Tsawwassen Springs Golf Aeration

Tsawwassen Springs will be aerating this coming weekend.  We will be closing Sunday April 8^th at 1pm, closed Monday April 9^th, and re-opening Tuesday April 10^that 10am.

The word aeration stimulates negative emotions for many golfers. It may come as a surprise, but golf course superintendents also dislike aeration. After all, the last person who wants to disrupt the smoothness of the putting greens they work so hard to maintain is the superintendent.  Golfers often ask, “Why is aeration needed?” Aeration is an essential program to keep playing surfaces healthy and in good condition. Aeration primarily is performed to control organic matter – i.e., decaying roots and grass stems – relieve soil compaction, stimulate root growth and improve drainage. If organic matter becomes too thick, it acts like a sponge and holds water at the surface after rain or irrigation. Excessive organic matter also inhibits root growth, reduces oxygen levels in the soil, encourages disease and eventually can lead to turf failure. Furthermore, excessive organic matter creates soft surfaces prone to ball marks, foot printing and inconsistent playing conditions. Aeration and topdressing are the most effective ways to control organic matter and maintain smooth, firm putting surfaces.

All that being said we hope that you understand this necessary measure, we will be providing the following rates until the greens are back up to our standards (usually 10 days).  April 10^th – 13^th – $25, April 14^th – 19^th – $35, April 20^th back to Spring rates – April 30^th.

Construction Update

We are pleased to say that 80% of our Phase 3 Condo building homeowners have received their orientation, and would like to welcome all of the homeowners who have picked up (and are currently picking up) their keys to Tsawwassen Springs!

While move in’s continue in the Phase 3 Condo building, the Phase 4 Condo building is also making great progress. We have completed framing up to third floor in the Phase 4 Condo building, and have now started to sheet the roof on the west side.

Tsawwassen Springs Golf Update

Mother nature has thrown us a curve ball with a late dump of snow, but the team at Tsawwassen Springs is still working hard in anticipation of another beautiful Spring.

We are in the process of building a new teeing deck for the blue and white tees on the 11th hole, we aim to have this project complete and playable by the end of March (weather depending). Until that time we have set up the hole with the blue tee on the current black tee box, and the white tees on the current gold tee box.

New 2018 product is beginning to roll in to the Golf Shop at Tsawwassen Springs, pop in and have a look, our featured new product for the month of March is the men’s and ladies collection from Greg Norman.

Tsawwassen Springs held the 2018 Spring education seminar February 19/20 presented by the PGA of BC,  over 170 golf professionals from across the province were in attendance.
